A change of direction!
We returned to the Big O Rv Resort in Okeechobee and promptly purchased a lot on the rim canal. The rim canal is the canal dug when the Corp of Engineers placed a dike around the entire circumference of Lake Okeechobee after a devastating flood caused the lake to overflow back in the late 1920s or early 1930s. The dirt for the dike came form and created the rim canal. We have been looking for a winter nest ever since we started and since they are not making any more waterfront property, we decided to go ahead and get ours before they are all gone.
We tried Arizona, New Mexico and South Texas as wintering
spots and just have found that the only place that is consistently warm
in the winter is our old home, South Florida.
Unfortunately, we just sold the boat we bought last spring as we thought we were going to be in Arizona installing KingDomes and TracStar systems for our friend Ron Brundage. However, we have an alternate strategy to replace cash that has been slipping away from our accounts over the last two years of poor market performance.
We have formed a corporation, Advanced Satellite Internet Inc. and have gone into business here in Okeechobee. We are selling two way internet satellite systems for fixed locations and are also trying pick up the MotoSat line for RVs. Film at 11 on MotoSat. We also handle Wineguard satellite domes, automatic antennas and the appropriate accessories for RV satellelite TV systems. We hope to take this business on the road next summer and miss the hot Flrorida summer temperatures! Look for a link to our commercial website soon. You will be able to buy many Rv accessories and systems there. (and it will keep us traveling!) If you are in a fixed location and desire to have high speed internet access, we are authorized to sell our system anywhere in the country and will arrange installation if you are too far for us to travela and do it ourselves. There is no distance limitation on these systems, no phone or cable access is necessary except we do need a phone line and regular modem for the initial registration. Speeds on the system generally exceed DSL rates in most areas.
Enough commercial, we are staying in Okeechobee for
the winter, visiting our kids and grandkids in their homes on both coasts
and looking forward to folks stopping in to see us as they head south for
the warm weather here in Florida.
Look for more information on our new venture and what is happening here in Okeechobee in the December update.
